The Bear's Grove Podcast

The Bear’s Grove #29: GM Timing and Lyrica Magic

February 26th, 2007

Show Notes

I talk a bit about Heart of the Hunter.

The Harping Monkey’s got a new podcast together with All Games Considered called “The Rolemonkeys.”

In this episode I talk about techniques you can use in your game to keep the pace of your story on the beat; just a few ideas about how you can speed up or slow down things.

Also, I talk about the Lyrica Magic System and the current state of the Lyrica game.

Plus there’s some feedback.

The music from this episode is called “Baja Taxi” and it’s from Brain Buckit on the Podsafe Music Network at Music.podshow.com

Hope you like it!

    Sam,
I was very upset to learn you lost all your work with your wiki. I’m at the early design stages of my own game and was hoping you might suggest some organizational tools. Right now I’m creating seperate docs for each of my ideas and putting them on Docs.google.com. This way if I have colaborators they can have easy access to it as well.

How did you use the Wiki and how easy is it to go from Wiki to publishable doc?

Best of luck on the re-creation process for Lyrica. Thank the gods for podcasts as a way to archive your process.

    Thanks, Working Man!
I think Google Docs is your best bet. Wikis are nice, but it is hard to go from Wiki to Document - it isn’t impossible, mind you, but it’s difficult.

A podcast record is not bad - but the trap really is that if you podcast something, it’s always going to be in that audio format - one needs to get something on paper to really make it work.

I’m excited that you’re doing a game and would love to know more - where can we find out about it? Your podcast at Fist Full of Comics and Games? or somewhere else?

Sam, thanks for the feedback. I welcome you to come take a look at the beginnings of my game, tentatively named Call to Adventure. I’m kinda spread out right now as to where I’m discussing it but here’s the rundown:

    MySpace: http://blog.myspace.com/working_man2112
    FFoCaG forums: http://www.fistfullofcomics.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=index&c=9
and I even have a thread going over at the House of the Harping Monkey: http://harpingmonkey.com/index.php?option=com_fireboard&func=view&id=6009&catid=4#6009

    Thanks, JJ
